Almond Joy Body Lotion

Filed under: Bath and Body, Recipes — Loki @ 7:52 am

Almond Joy Body Lotion - A Body Lotion Recipe.
This almond body lotion recipe will relieve even the driest skin.

1/2 cup water
1/8 tsp. borax powder
1/2 cup almond oil
1 tsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. grated beeswax
2 Tbsp. honey
3-4 drops orange Essential Oil (optional)

To Make This Body Lotion Recipe: Mix water and borax together, stirring
until well mixed. Set aside. Mix together the almond oil, coconut oil, honey
and beeswax in a glass measuring cup. Place the cup with the oils-beeswax
mixture in a pan of water (about 1 to 2″ of water), making a water bath.
Heat over medium heat until the beeswax is melted (8 to 10 min.), stirring
occasionally. When the wax is melted, bring the water/borax solution almost
to boiling (put the glass cup with the water/borax in the microwave on High
for 1 min., or use a water bath on the stove top). Remove the oil-beeswax
mixture from the water bath and pour into blender. Slowly add water/borax to
the mixture in the blender and whip. Allow the lotion to cool completely.

The consistency may seem a bit thin, but it will thicken as it cools. You
may add the orange Essential Oil now if you wish. Pour into a lidded
container. To use: massage a small amount into your skin.

This body lotion recipe leaves your skin feeling and looking radiant. The
Almond Joy Body Lotion feels silky-smooth and smells terrific. This body
lotion is a lavish and invigorating way to treat your skin.

It is easy to make an affordable, skin nourishing and pampering bath and
body product. Feel free to substitute or add other essential oils to
personalize your body lotion recipe. The recipe can be left without
fragrance or essential oils can be added for therapeutic benefit.

Creams and lotions are made by combining oil-based, which provide nourishing
properties, and water-based ingredients to moisturize the skin. Creams and
lotions are the only skin care applications that moisturize and nourish at
the same time.

Here’s a quick, inexpensive and easy packaging idea; Removing labels off
empty glass jars. Relish jars, olive jars and baby food jars all work well.
Spray paint the lids with a granite spray. Hand lotion recipes packaged in a
cobalt bottle or a brushed aluminum bottle always present well. Or, place
your almond body lotion recipe in decorative bottles. For an added touch,
write the recipe on a little card and tie the recipe onto the bottle with
ribbon or raffia.

Raspberry Oatmeal Hand Cream

A nice, rich cream to smooth and soothe your hands. You can substitute
any fragrance oil you’d like in the quantity called for in the recipe,
or you can leave it unscented too!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup distilled water
1/8 teaspoon borax
1/3 cup sweet almond oil
1 tablespoon lanolin
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon beeswax
15 drops raspberry fragrance oil
5 drops oatmeal, milk & honey fragrance oil

Combine water and borax in heavy pan (or double boiler) over low heat;
stir until borax dissolves. In separate saucepan (or double boiler),
melt the beeswax, sweet almond oil and lanolin together, stirring until
all well blended. Slowly, 1 teaspoon at a time, add the water/borax
mixture into the oil/wax mixture stirring constantly. Continue stirring
until it forms
a thick white cream and has cooled to room temperature. You can use a
handheld mixer on low speed for this. Stir in fragrance oils and make
sure they are well incorporated. Pour the cream into jar and seal. The
shelf life of this cream is about 3 months but you can add the
preservative of your choice to extend that.

Glycerin Soap Recipes

Jewelweed Soap

Ingredients
2 cups glycerin soap
1/2 cup jewelweed maceration (gather blooming jewelweed and boil in 1/2
cup water)
7 drops sweet orange oil
2 drops of orange coloring

Instructions
Melt glycerin in double boiler or slowly in microwave. Add jewelweed
maceration, stir until slightly cooled. Add fragrance and color. Pour into
molds. Cool.
You can find jewelweed growing next to poison ivy…it has a little orange
jewel like flower. It is used to heal the rash caused by poison ivy.

Lavender Beeswax Soap

Ingredients
4 ounces (114 grams) glycerin soap base
10 drops lavender essential oil
1 drop violet coloring
1 teaspoon beeswax

Instructions
Melt glycerin over low heat in a double boiler or microwave. Add beeswax
and remove from heat. Stir until wax is melted. Add essential oil and
color. Stir and pour into mold.
The trick to great glycerin, melt and pour soaps is to keep the heat as
low as possible. Too much heat will cause a mushy or beaded appearance
after a very short storage time. Keep glycerin soaps sealed in plastic to
keep the glycerin from attracting moisture from the air.

Natural Green Chamomile Soap

Ingredients
2 cups glycerin soap base
1 tablespoon powdered chamomile
1 tablespoon glycerin or aloe vera
1 capsule chlorophyll concentrate

Instructions
Melt glycerin base in double boiler on low heat. Blend powdered chamomile
with glycerin or aloe. Stir this mixture into melted glycerin then stir in
contents of chlorophyll capsule. Pour into small tupperware style
containers and leave uncovered until cool.
The chlorophyll capsule gives the soap a natural color. Putting soap into
this style of container allows for travel use. Wet face and face brush.
Run face brush over front of soap and then face. Rinse warm. Allow
glycerin soap to dry before putting cover back on.

Glycerin with Shea Butter

Ingredients
2 cups glycerin soap base
2 tablespoons melted shea butter
5 drops orange essential oil

Instructions
Mix ingredients thoroughly, pour into molds.
This soap is a good moisturizer. Shea butter has some sun protection
qualities, but be sure to still put on the sunscreen!

Marmalade Soap

Ingredients
2 3/4 cups (400g)grated glycerin soap
orange coloring (can use mace powder (2tsp/10ml) mixed with (4 T/60ml) of
veg. oil)
1 teaspoon/5 ml sweet orange essential oil
Pinch each of dried marigold or chamomile flowers and pinch of dried
orange zest

Instructions
Melt glycerin soap over low heat in double boiler. Add color as melting
nears completion and turn off heat. Stir in essential oil. Pour into
molds. Mix in flowers and zest with a toothpick as soap cools in the mold.

This soap has a nice fragrance and interesting look. As with all glycerin
soaps, wrap tightly as the glycerin will attract moisture from the air.

Winding Down Herbal Bath

Winding Down Herbal Bath

This bath herb blend is perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day.
The valerian contributes to a nice, sleepy, calming effect. Unplug the
phone, light some candles, and have some comfy jammies ready to slip
into!

1 part dried hops
1 part dried chamomile flowers
1 part dried lavender buds
1/4 part dried valerian root
lavender essential oil (optional)

Combine all herbs and add 1 drop lavender essential oil for each 3/4
ounce (weight) of total herbs used. Put into a glass container with a
lid - a big, empty, clean mayo jar is perfect! - and gently shake to
blend. Let the jar sit for at least a week to allow the herbs to
“marinate.”

Use 3/4 ounce (weight) of the herb mixture per bath. The herbs can be
tied up in a muslin bag or sealed into a press and brew tea bag, either
of which can be dropped into the tub while it’s filling with hot water.

Alternatively, put the herbs in a bowl and cover with a pint of boiling
water. Allow to steep for 20 minutes, then strain and add the infusion
to the bath. The strained herbs can be tied into a washcloth, which can
be used to gently scrub with while soaking.
