Looking for Answers

Looking for Answers

Got a question that’s bothering you or just one that you
always wanted the answer to?

Pick out a tree you like, in your immediate neighborhood; Oak’s are a nice choice. Visit it at approximately the same time every day.  Touch the tree; while touching, ask your question. Wait thirty seconds or so.
Break contact. Go about your business. This is a very ancient
method, and it works.

Letting Go of Fear

Letting Go of Fear

Picture yourself swimming floating - peacefully down a gentle stream. All you need to do is breathe, relax, and go with the flow.

Suddenly, you become conscious of your situation. Frightened, overwhelmed with “what if’s?” your body tenses. You begin to thrash around, frantically looking for something to grab on to.

You panic so hard you start to go under. Then you remember - you’re working too hard at this. You don’t need to panic. All you need to do is breathe, relax, and go with the flow. You won’t drown.

Panic is our great enemy.

We don’t need to become desperate. If overwhelming problems appear in our life, we need to stop struggling. We can tread water for a bit, until our equilibrium returns. Then we can go back to floating peacefully down the gentle stream. It is our stream. It is a safe stream. Our course has been charted. All is well.

Today, I will relax, breathe, and go with the flow.

How to Recognize Your Animal Guide

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 6:43 am

How to Recognize Your Animal Guide

How do you know your animal guide? Some people like to think that you
can simply visualize an animal and that you can draw on its power, but I
feel you need to allow the universe to bring to you what is right for
you rather than what you think you want. Your animal guide is a presence
to respect. It is with you all of this life. Other totem animals may
come and go according to the lessons you are experiencing. Each animal
carries with it strengths that you can learn to take into your own life
as well as challenges to your character in areas you could improve on.
Taking a special note of the behaviors, traits, habitats and eating
habits of your animal will reveal a lot about what would be helpful to
you in your situation.
Look back to your childhood. Is there an animal that either terrified
you or fascinated you? Is there a story that involves an animal that you
have never forgotten, so much so that it is still in your mind as an
adult? In order to learn the most from an animal spirit you first need
to respect it, look at, listen to and learn about the animal.

The Monroe Technique for Astral Projection

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 10:39 am

The Monroe Technique for Astral Projection

Step One:

Relax the body. According to Monroe, “the ability to relax is the
first prerequisite, perhaps even the first step itself” to having an
OBE. (out of body experience). This includes both physical and
mental relaxation. Monroe does not suggest a method of attaining
this relaxation, although progressive muscle relaxation, coupled
with deep breathing exercises (inhale 1, exhale 2, inhale 3… until
about 50 or 100) are known to work well.

Step Two:

Enter the state bordering sleep. This is known as the hypnogogic
state. Once again, Monroe doesn’t recommend any method of doing
this. One way is to hold your forearm up, while keeping your upper
arm on the bed, or ground. As you start to fall asleep, your arm
will fall, and you will awaken again. With practice you can learn to
control the hypnogogic state without using your arm. Another method
is to concentrate on an object. When other images start to enter
your thoughts, you have entered the hypnogogic state. Passively
watch these images. This will also help you maintain this state of
near-sleep. Monroe calls this Condition A.

Step Three:

Deepen this state. Begin to clear your mind. Observe your field of
vision through your closed eyelids at the blackness in front of
your. After a while you may start to notice light patterns. These
are simply neural discharges. They have no specific effect. Ignore
them. When they cease, one has entered what Monroe calls Condition
B. From here, one must enter an even deeper state of relaxation
which Monroe calls Condition C– a state of such relaxation that you
lose all awareness of the body and sensory stimulation. You are
almost in a void in which your only source of stimulation will be
your own thoughts.

The ideal state for leaving your body is Condition D. This is
Condition C when it is voluntarily induced from a rested and
refreshed condition and is not the effect of normal fatigue. To
achieve Condition D, Monroe suggests that you practice entering it
in the morning just as you are getting up, or after a short nap.

Step Four:

Enter a state of Vibration. This is the most important part of the
technique, and also the most vague.

Many projectors have noted these vibrations at the onset of
projection. They can be experienced as a mild tingling, or as if
electricity is being shot through the body. Their cause is a
mystery. It may actually be the astral body trying to leave the
physical body.

For entering into the vibrational state, he offers the following
directions:

1. Remove all jewelry or other items that might be touching your
skin.

2. Darken the room so that no light can be seen through your
eyelids, but do not shut out all light.

3. Lie down with your body along a north-south axis, with your head
pointed toward magnetic north.

4. Loosen all clothing, but keep covered so that you are slightly
warmer than what might normally be comfortable.

5. Be sure you are in a location where, and at a time when, there
will be absolutely no noise to disturb you.

6. Enter a state of relaxation.

7. Give yourself the mental suggestion that you will remember all
that occurs during the upcoming session that will be beneficial to
your well being. Repeat this five times.

8. As your breathe, concentrate on the void in front of you.

9. Select a point a foot away from your forehead, then change your
point of mental reference to six feet.

10. Turn the point 90 degrees upward by drawing an imaginary line
parallel to your body axis up above you head. Focus there and reach
out for the vibrations at that point and bring them back into your
body.

Even if you don’t know what these vibrations are, you will know when
you have achieved contact with them.

Step Five:

Learn to control the vibrational state. Practice controlling them by
mentally pushing them into your head, down to your toes, making them
surge throughout your entire body, and producing vibrational waves
from head to foot. To produce this wave effect, concentrate on the
vibrations and mentally push a wave out of your head and guide it
down your body. Practice this until you can induce these waves on
command. Once you have control of the vibrational state, you are
ready to leave the body.

Step Six:

Begin with a partial separation. The key here is thought control.
Keep your mind firmly focused on the idea of leaving the body. Do
not let it wander. Stray thoughts might cause you to lose control of
the state.

Now having entered the vibrational state, begin exploring the OBE by
releasing a hand or a foot of the “second body”. Monroe suggests
that you extend a limb until it comes in contact with a familiar
object, such as a wall near your bed. Then push it through the
object. Return the limb by placing it back in to coincidence with
the physical one, decrease the vibrational rate, and then terminate
the experiment. Lie quietly until you have fully returned to normal.
This exercise will prepare you for full separation.

Step Seven:

Dissociate yourself from the body. Monroe suggests two methods for
this. One method is to lift out of the body. To do this, think about
getting lighter and lighter after entering the vibrational state.
Think about how nice it would be to float upward. Keep this thought
in mind at all costs and let no extraneous thoughts interrupt it. An
OBE will occur naturally at this point.

Another method is the “Rotation Method” or “roll-out” technique.
When you have achieved the vibrational state, try to roll over as if
you were turning over in bed. Do not attempt to roll over
physically. Try to twist your body from the top and virtually roll
over into your second body right out of your physical self. At this
point, you will be out of the body, but next to it. Think of
floating upward, and you should find yourself floating above the
body.

Circle Round Abundance Meditation

Circle Round Abundance Meditation

I’ll give you a break from history and legend. The following little
meditation has really helped me. On any day or evening, from new to full
moon, sit quietly and close your eyes. Relax. See yourself as the energy of
prosperity. BE the energy of prosperity. Chant or repeat in your mind:

‘Circle, circle, round, round;
Round, round, circle round.’

Then calm and center yourself, thinking of yourself as the energy of success
and prosperity. BE the energy of prosperity.

This spell is a terrific one to do anytime, and is especially helpful when
those financial worries start to get you down.

To enhance this spell:

* Load a green candle with cinquefoil, mint, and vervain then burn as you
meditate.
* Perform on a full moon in the hour of Jupiter.
* Drum or use a rattle while intoning the spell.
* Perform on January 1 (New Year’s Day) or on your birthday.

Centering Your Body and Your Mind

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 8:26 am

Centering Your Body and Your Mind
Adapted from Bodylessons, by Marian Wolfe Dixon (Findhorn Press,
2005).

Centering is a process of finding the source of strength, clarity,
and peace within. It is a way of focusing, of gathering your energy
into a point so that you can channel it more easily into any
activity you choose. Centering creates higher levels of awareness
and enhances your ability to discover what is most important and
meaningful to you. When you are centered, you feel calm, quiet,
strong, secure, balanced, and present in the moment.

Exercise to center the body.
With eyes closed, gently rock from side to side, from one foot to
the other. Use this pendulum motion to help find just the right
point of balance for your body. Allow the head to rock until it
finds a balance, too. Gradually slow the motion until the body is
still, feeling the balance of the head on top of the cervical
vertebrae. Concentrate on the pelvis acting as an anchor for the
body, with the legs grounding the body to the earth, and the spine
resting on top of the pelvis. Feel the spine in alignment, and the
head resting on top of the spine. Focus on the shoulder blades and
feel them like a crossbar, balanced off the spine. There is no need
to hold the shoulders; they are balanced from the spine, and the
arms fall in relaxation from the shoulders. How does it feel to find
your center this way?

Exercise to center your mind.
This is adapted from “Creating a Sanctuary,” by Shakti Gawain. Close
your eyes and relax in a comfortable position. Imagine yourself in
some beautiful natural environment. Think of any place that appeals
to you. . . a meadow, mountaintop, forest, or ocean. It could even
be under the sea or on another planet. Wherever you go, it should
feel comfortable, peaceful, and pleasant. Explore the environment,
noticing sights, sounds, smells, and tastes, along with any other
impressions. Do whatever you like to make the place more homelike
and comfortable. You might want to surround the area with a bubble
of safety, rearrange the setting for more convenience, or perform a
ritual to establish this as your special place. You can come to this
center anytime that you like. All you need to is close your eyes and
imagine it. You may want to change your center from time to time, or
you may find that it seems to spontaneously evolve on its own.

Freeing Your Mind

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 10:26 am

Freeing Your Mind

When people start practicing meditation, they often find themselves
distracted by other thoughts.

After a minute or two of meditation, their minds wander off on a tangent
that seems so much more interesting. Then they remember why they are
there and abruptly focus back on the meditation. The question is, how
can you gain enough focus and dedicated attention to go deeper into
meditation?

A young musician once traveled to New York City especially to see the
world’s top violin virtuoso perform at Carnegie Hall. Lost on the
streets of New York and running late, he paused breathless and asked a
senior gentleman on the street corner, “Can you tell me, please: How do
I get to Carnegie Hall?”
The wise-looking gentleman looked him in the eyes, thought for a moment,
sighed deeply and replied, “Practice, practice, practice!”

And so it is with meditation, practice, practice, practice, except that
it’s a lot easier!

As you practice, keep refocusing your mind whenever it wanders off, and
always be patient with yourself when you do this. It is the nature of
the conscious mind to wander off, so there is no point in feeling bad
about it. Be kind to yourself always and nudge your attention back
on-purpose whenever necessary. Be a detached observer and let thoughts
pass by you just like passing clouds.

The other issue that people mention relates to feelings of self-worth.
The phrase used in the Infinite Being Meditation, “I am Infinite Being”,
is an affirmation of your oneness with the consciousness from which all
life sprang.

If you find issues arising from this, such as feeling unworthy to be
aligned with all that is, then just let those thoughts go and bring your
focus back onto the phrase. You do not have to justify the words or
settle any internal argument about them just because of some prior
conditioning as to how someone said that you “should” think in this
life.

Maintain the inner discipline to stay with the affirmation and let the
issues fade away unchallenged. Your inner self knows the meaning of the
words and resonates in joy with their exact and literal truth. Every
time you repeat this affirmation, you become more connected with
Infinite Being. Any lesser thoughts then become healed in the light of
the greater truth.

A CENTERING MEDITATION:

Sit any way that you feel comfy, so long as your spine is straight.

Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Take very long and very
deep breaths through your nose.

Each time you breathe in, hold it for 2 or 3 seconds and then slowly
exhale. Continue this breathing until you feel very calm and
peaceful. This usually takes 3-5 minutes
( but that is just me).

Take as long as you need. It is different for everyone. Just go at
your own pace.

You can also use sound to centre yourself. Just sit quietly and ring
a small bell or chimes, or use a Tibetan singing bowl.

Focus on the soft sound and breathe deeply.

Keep making the noise until you feel centred.

A QUICK GROUNDING MEDITATION:

This works great for those times at work when you just can’t seem to
keep your feet still or relax.

Place your feet flat on the floor and breathe in deeply. On the
exhale, picture the excess energy flowing out of your feet and into
the Earth.

Keep doing this until you feel calm. Usually my feet feel very heavy
after doing this.

Shamanic Journey to Answer a Question

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 12:53 pm

Shamanic Journey to Answer a Question
by Ron, Sibylline initiate

Purpose of ritual: Finding answers to a personal question and
look for strength and guidance in your query.

Overview:

*      Shamanic based
*      flute music to cover outside noises
*      One-person ritual
*      1 altar big enough for 6 caches
*      Picture my sacred space as a northern forest, early on a cool
fall morning.
*      Call on powers of the directions to help set atmosphere
*      Call on totem to guide on journey
*      Use drumming to help journey once tone is set
*      Thank powers and totem
*      Close circle

Setup:

North side of altar:
Cup of rich soil (Dillo dirt) with musky odor.
Represents a forest floor rich with decomposed leaves, bugs,
fertile soil.

East side of altar:
Several pine needles - need to be fresh for the pine scent, but on
something so you can’t touch them directly.
Brings the scent the wind would pick up blowing through a pine
forest.

South side of altar:
Pine cone - dried and old, ready to germinate.
Essence of fire brought in by pine cones needing to be burned to
grow.

West side of altar:
Crushed ice - small enough to pack and looks like snow.
Brings the cool water of an early fall morning.

Center left side of altar:
Left side seeds - any size or type, just seeds that have not yet
been planted.
Represents growth waiting to happen under the earth.

Center right side of altar:
Cotton -several balls that are wet arranged to look like clouds.
Represents a the dark heavy clouds that are present on a
winter’s afternoon just before a snow storm.

Procedure:

Start with the north to work from the ground first. Hold the dirt and
close my eyes. Ask the powers of earth to join me. Try to smell
the forest floor just after the morning dew when the leaves are
fresh with decay. Feel how cool, wet, and comforting the
surrounding ground can be. Imagine myself lying on the forest
floor, halfway buried in the dirt, becoming part of the many living
things around you.

Next, honor the east and revel in what the wind brings. Hold the
pine needles so that you can smell the scent, but not feel them.
Close yourself eyes again and ask the powers of air to join me.
Return to the forest, but hover slightly above the ground. Notice
the cool wind blowing across your face, smell the scent of the
trees it brings, and feel the air move around each and every one
as they stand quietly.

Call upon the south and hold the pine cone. Feel the life it has
buried within and what it takes to allow it to escape. Ask the
powers of the south to join you and feel the power fire brings
from both the sun giving life, and how fire can re-start life.
Imagine yourself as the energy coursing through the leaves,
through the pinecone and into the earth.

Call upon the west by packing a small amount of frost into your
hand. Ask the powers of the west to help you feel what fall
provides as it brings the cool rains that will soon turn to snow.
Locate yourself standing below a large canopy during a cold fall
rain, listening to each drop hitting the trees, the ground, and your
body.

Now hold the acorn and imagine yourself buried deep in the
earth waiting to emerge into your forest. Ask the powers below to
help you form your forest world to include what it feels like from
below. Feel the solidarity and the patience it takes to move as a
seed from below the ground into a tree in the living world.

Finally hold the cotton and feel how everything comes together.
Ask the powers above to help see everything that has been
brought together to this point. Picture yourself floating above the
forest feeling the pressure of a cool fall morning as the clouds
are heavy with the coming rain and snow. See the ground
holding strong as the wind and energy swirls around the trees.
Feel the moisture in the air and how above and below circle the
entire area. Once the setting is placed, sit on the floor in front of
the altar with a “floor chair” so you can be kind of sitting, but
relaxed enough that you can concentrate on journeying instead
of lying down. Find the underworld and meet up with your totem.
Ask him what you are trying to find out, and see where he leads
you.

After the drumming reaches it’s end, come back and thank the
powers in reverse order from how they were called. Imagine
yourself in each place that you were when calling the directions,
to thank them for coming. Pay particular attention to where you
am and how you feel in each place.

That’s it! Hopefully you’ll get the answers you are looking for. But
if not, you’ll get an answer to something you didn’t realize you
needed!

Contacting your guides

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 4:14 pm

Contacting your guides

It is believed that we all have our own spirit guides which have
been with us since conception. These guides are here with us to
protect us on our journey on this earth plane. They are often
referred to as our guardian angel they can protect us against evil
influences. Again beliefs in guardian angles are not a new concept
and can be traced back in history thousands of years ago. Many
guides are contacted through spirit mediums and clairvoyants but
anyone on this earth plane has the power and capacity to contact
their own guide/s.

Guides can assist us with our spiritual journey and help us to
understand our true or inner self. That is the self that that
lingers within us prior to the outside influences that have possibly
changed our true selves

Firstly we need to begin the process of believing that we can and
deserve to become in contact with our spirit guide. We must believe
that we are capable of achieving this and to become increasingly
aware of that what we say and think will influence our capacity to
contact our guides. If you do not believe you can contact your
guides it will never happen.

Remember: Thoughts produce action.

The universe does not place any judgements on individuals. If your
intention is full of sincerity and love it will be created. You need
to believe it and you will see the results. If your motive and
intentions are pure you will attract guides. We just need to believe
this is so and it will be done.

Be sure that you commence with some form of protection. This can be
a short prayer and be sure to ask for protection during your candle
magic session. Imagine a bright white light encompassing your room,
your home and surrounding yourself. Ask that you only come in
contact with spirits from a higher vibration level. There are many
spirits that are earth bound.

These are spirits which have not passed on to the higher vibrations.
They are often confused and in many cases are quite sinister and
evil. Again believe that you will be protected from these negative
influences and this will occur.
The following exercise in Candle Burning will assist you to contact
your own spirit guide.

Begin by oiling the candle if you desire and commence visualising
your desire for to see or hear your guide.
Firstly:
1. To assist with creating material wealth you need to light one
white or silver candle. The colour white represents enlightenment of
the soul and it is also seen as pure and vibrating at the highest
possible level.

2. Be sure you are seated comfortably with no interruptions and
clear your mind of any thoughts. To assist in the process you may
wish to use some mediation techniques and concentrate on breathing
slowly and fully for a few minutes. As you mind becomes clear, focus
on the burning candle and begin to try to picture your guide within
the flame of the candle.

You may not receive any form within the first few minutes but you
may sense a loving presence with you. During this stage you may wish
to speak to your guide and ask them any important questions. It is
said that your answers may not come to you there and then and an
answer may come to you during a dream or even through another
person. The key is to remain focussed and become increasingly aware
of the signs around you.

You may wish to accompany this session with an affirmation:
a) I am ready to receive information from my guide. I am a loving
person who wishes to become increasingly aware.
b) I will make contact with my guide during my dream state to
receive information.

If you are frightened or apprehensive about contacting your guide
they will not necessarily make contact with you directly. As
mentioned earlier you need to become increasingly aware of any signs
of your guide communicating with you. Many people say they are ready
to see their guide but when questioned what would they do if their
guide appeared now they often respond with comments such as:
I would freak out or I would scream. So once again you must believe
you can and look at what you are fearing.
If you find it difficult to remain focussed clear your mind again of
all thoughts and commence your ritual again. Finally: Continue to
focus on the desire as long as you feel is necessary and the time
required will vary amongst individuals.

CONTACTING AND USING SPIRIT GUIDES

Filed under: Meditations — Loki @ 2:32 pm

CONTACTING AND USING SPIRIT GUIDES

Each one of us has a spirit guide. It is generally
believed that we may have up to five separate guides.

Guides come and go throughout our lifetimes. One must
also consider that a spirit chooses to come to us at
specific moments of our lives when their particular
knowledge or wisdom is required and moves on after
their mission is completed. Very often we have at
least one guide that remains with us from birth
through death and often is present to assist us at the
moment we separate from the body.

Almost every culture speaks of these spirits. Some
call them Guardian Angels, others called them the
Watchers; totems, etc.

They are real and they are there to assist us.

So, how do we make contact?

CONTACTING YOUR GUIDE

“Don’t look for us. We will find you.
Don’t call for us. We are already here.”
~~~~Author unknown
I’ve seen this many times throughout my life and it is
part and parcel of how guides interact with humans.
They will come to you and speak to you when you are
ready. They will know how to approach you and what to
say.
Sometimes they speak to us not in words but in
actions, in symbols, through others.
And since sometimes we are not paying too much
attention, they tend to repeat themselves until we get
the message.
Some things are coincidence. Others are not. But if
you prefer to contact your guide, if you feel you are
ready, you can reach out and make contact. They are
there and they will respond.
START SLOWLY
Find a comfortable spot. Relax, play some quiet
music. Have a pen and pad nearby if you wish. Close
your eyes and take a few deep, cleansing breaths.
With your eyes closed, ask in your mind,
“Are you here?”
Wait for a response. Begin with easy Yes and No
questions. Wait a few seconds.30 at the most for a
response. You will feel a soft whispered response in
your mind. It will always be Yes.
“Are you my guide?” Wait again.
“Will you always come when I call you?” Wait for the
response.
This should be the end of your first session.
These questions may seem silly and obvious, but they
are designed to help you define the touch of your
guide and how they will answer you. This is a
learning lesson for you and not the guide although
eventually you will both learn and grow together.
Practice simple Yes and No questions the first few
times.
MORE QUESTIONS
Eventually you will move onto more complex questions,
but for right now keep it at one or two word
responses.
“Will you tell me your name?” Wait.
“What is your name?” Again, wait for the answer. If
you have difficulty in hearing the response in your
mind, tell the guide you do not understand and wait.
He or she will find another way to tell you their
name.
Practice simple questions like these for a few days.
Then you can move on to more complex matters.
GUIDES AND REMOTE VIEWING
Guides are not infallible. They can make mistakes.
But they have the ability to know certain things you
do not or travel within the worlds. Thus, they can
help you in many ways. However, do not exploit a
guide. Normally, if there is an area that they will
not answer you on it is best to let it alone.
CHANGING GUIDES
It is possible for you to ask for a new guide. This
should only be done if your guide moves too slowly,
too quickly, or if you do not feel comfortable with
the guide. This can happen and you do have the
ability to simply meditate and ask for the Higher
Powers of the Universe of change your guide.
Remember that guides also have a lesson and a mission
to accomplish and they too will not move on to the
higher realms unless their lessons have been learned.
So, it is possible to have a clash of personalities.
Rather than suffer silently, ask for new guidance.
And so how does a person ask for new guides? Merely
put the request out there. Either in meditation,
spells or prayers. Whichever method is most
comfortable and natural for you.
CAN A GUIDE BE A RELATIVE?
In most cases they are. It is not unheard of to have
a guide who was once a grandparent, a sibling, a
child, or an ancestor. I am not fully certain as to
the reasons for this, but it is somehow related to the
karmic lessons that are worked out in family units.
I have had many experiences with relatives who have
passed on and return to guide a member of the
family…son, daughter, spouse, etc. So it is not
unheard of, nor rare.
No matter who your guide is, know that their influence
is to guide you and not to interfere. They too have a
lesson they are learning as guides.
CONTACT WITH YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES
CONTACT WITH YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES
There are many ways to contact your Spirit Guides.
Here for those of
you who would like to try for the first time are a few
of the most common
and simple methods of getting in touch with your
helpers.
1)THE SHAMANIC JOURNEY. This is a form of meditation
designed to take
you into the realm of Spirit to meet your guides. It
is simple- but you
must be sure not to leave any of the steps out.
A) The first step is to get very clear about your
intent. Write out a
single sentance statement about what your are doing
and what you hope to
accomplish. End the sentance with the phrase “this
work is for the
highest good of all and free will of all.” An example
statement might be ”
I wish to meet and interact with my personal Spirit
Guides so that I
can learn to better trust myself and my intuitive
experiences, I wish to
do this in a way that is for the highest good of all
and according to
the free will of all.
B) Relax and focus yourself. Take a moment to become
very aware of your
breathing and your body and to “be in the moment.” Set
aside any
worries or fears or random thoughts and focus
completely on where you are and
what you are doing. (This is often reffered to as
“grounding.”)
C) Create a Sacred Space for yourself. Turn off the
phone, make sure
you are not going to be interupted, and then take a
moment to pray to
whatever sense of Diety you connect with and ask that
your work be blessed
and your space be protected while you are working.
D) Alter your consiousness. Take deep breaths until
you are totally
relaxed. (Stay sitting up so you do not fall asleep.)
Close your eyes and
“look” at your eyelids. After a moment you will see
the “afterlights”
or lines and squiggles from electrical energy in your
eyes. (Simmilar to
what you see if the lights flash on and then go
suddenly dark- or if
you “look” at the sun with your eyelids closed. Focus
on these for a
moment and allow yourself to feel yourself sinking
deeper into yoru
“imagination.” Many people find that listening to the
sound of a dripping
faucet, or any steady repetitive sound helps this
process. You can even get
a drumming tape at many Metaphysical stores especially
for this
purpose. Remember though you want boring and
repetative- not crazy and
synchopated.)
E) From here you are likely to get the sensation you
are going down a
tunnel or climbing a tree. Just go with the experience
whatever it is .
If you have no experience at all- do not worry it
takes some people
abut 5 or 6 tries for this to work. If you feel you
are “making it up”
that is OK too. Your imagination has to come from
somewhere and is often
based on psychic cues you are unconsciously picking
up. Just follow
along whith whatever is happening- repeteing your
intent again and again in
your mind.
F) Pay attention. You will likely meet a guide or
teacher. Many times
this guide will show 4 different guises (like turning
so you can see
them from all sides- or appearing in a flock or some
such “multiple.”)
This is simply an indication that the guide is very
ready to work with
you. If you feel you see nothing be sure to watch for
your
preconceptions. Many people will say- “I managed to go
somewhere but I did not see
any guide.” and then when I question them they will
report seeing whole
flocks of insects or bunches of mice- but ignoring
them because they
were lookig for something “bigger.” Remember the size
or magesty of the
way your guide appears has nothing at all to do with
the size and
magiesty of the lessons they can teach and messages
they can share!
G) When you meet someone simply thank them, and ask if
they have any
messages to give you. Do not worry if you get no
response right away-
this is a relationship and may take time to build.
Always ask if there is
anything you can do in return for their kindness
before you end your
meditation and return to normal consciousness.
H) When you are ready “come home.” Simply return your
awareness to your
breathing and your body. Take a moment to focus on
each of your five
senses.
I) Get up slowly. Write down any notes about your
experience you wish
to write down. Then do a thank you prayer and imagine
yourself releasing
your sacred space. Turn your phone back on, blow out
any candles etc.
As you do so make sure that you start to focus on the
rest of your day
and the mundane tasks at hand.
J) Be pleased and proud. Whether you “got anything”
this time or not
you have done a shamanic journey. With time you may
learn to use this
technique as an amazing method of spiritual learning
and personal healing.
2) THE QUEST
This is a method simmilar to the one above- but does
not require the
use of an “altered state of consciousness.” Instead
pick a place you can
be outside in a natural setting uninterupted for at
least 1 and 1/2
hours. (The remote corners of parks where not too many
people are around-
or backyards are fine.)
A) Complete steps A-C from the above exercise.
B) Sit and watch nature. Sing to yoruself or repeat
your intent, but do
not get up and move around or read a book or talk to
anyone or allow
yourself to daydream. Observe nature. Watch to quality
of the light and
look for the different shades of color- and watch for
any animals or
plants that call your attention. Keep focused for the
full hour and a
half.
C) Think about your experience. You may
“spontaneously” have a vision,
or simply notice alot of a particular animal, or
remember a specific
scripture or spiritual teacher. Whatever it is trust
that this is your
message from your guide.
D) Repeate steps h-J from exercise one.
3) PRACTICAL DIVINATION
This is also a simplified way to connect with your
guides.
A) Complete steps A and B from exercise number one.
B) Then isntead of praying to “set a sacred space” for
a specific
exercise- make a prayer that during the next four days
your guides will show
themselves to you. Simply ask taht they come into your
life in a way
that you can recognise.
C) Look for any message or guide that repeates itself
4 times. (Four
stray cats show up at your door- you see a flock of
swans overhead- a
sudden infestation of ants, all the sudden friends
start giving you
pictures of the Virgin Mary. Whatever as long as it is
multiple.)
D) Thank your guide and think about the lessons that
you may be
recieving from them- ask if there is anything you can
give back in return.
E) IMPORTANT. Please remember after four days to take
a moment to do a
thank you prayer and “finish” the exercise and release
your request.
Otherwise you will end up getting really spacey and
incompetent and could
bring a sting of “bad luck” upon yourself by not being
grounded.
