Ceromancy or How To practice divination With Wax

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 6:10 am

Candle Wax Divination

Ceromancy or How To practice divination With Wax

To divine or to look to the future by a candle’s flame is covered quite adequately in This little poem from an unknown poet:

Touch a light to the little wick,

Watch it burn to the candlestick.

Study with care the little blaze;

Fortunes are told in its tiny rays.

If an unseen power makes it weak and low,

For you it foretells a tale of woe.

If that same power makes a blaze bright and healthy,

You’ll be happy and wise, be good and wealthy.

For those who wish to pursue ceromancy, which is divination from forms

produced by dropping melted wax in water, it is simple enough for

anyone to try. Divination may make the future known.  This is a future that may be but is not a future that is rigid or unchangeable.  The information gleamed may be used to help your life or guide you down a given path.

Use any color candle, though the darker hues will show up best. It takes only a bit of imagination on the part of the magician to “see” the images which emerge from a bit of hot wax allowed to drop into a bowl of cold water.

Pendulum Magic

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 12:20 pm

Pendulum Magic

New Worlds Isse: NW022
By: Richard Webster

A pendulum is a small weight attached to a length of chain or thread. When someone holds it by the thread and asks a question, the weight moves and provides the answer. In the last few days I have witnessed two good examples of this.

Pendulum Experiences
Fluffball, a pet rabbit, got out of her cage and disappeared. The owners searched the immediate neighborhood with no success and were starting to panic. I suggested that they use a pendulum. They were skeptical, but they had reached the stage where they were prepared to try anything. I showed the lady of the house how to hold the pendulum. She held a pen and moved this over a map of the immediate area while holding the pendulum in her other hand. The pendulum began swinging strongly to and fro when her pen indicated a street almost a mile away.
“She can’t have gone that far”? the woman said. However, the family immediately went to the street that the pendulum indicated and found Fluffball contentedly sampling her way through someone’s front garden.
The second experience involved friends who were at a dinner we attended. The wife is allergic to msg (mono-sodium glutamate), and has been hospitalized on a number of occasions after accidentally eating it. Consequently, when she is away from home, she always uses a pendulum to test her food before eating it.
I was curious to see what she would do on this occasion, as it was a buffet meal served to about 200 guests. She selected the food that appealed to her and returned to her seat. She then took her pendulum out and held it under the table while holding her free hand over the plate of food. She silently asked the pendulum if the food she had selected was free of msg. When the pendulum gave a positive answer, she ate it. If the pendulum had given a negative response, she would have gone through the items she selected, one by one, to determine the foods she could not eat and would then have gone back to the buffet line.

Too Simple?
Finding a lost pet and determining whether or not food is safe to eat are two excellent examples of what the humble pendulum can do. Although most people know of the pendulum, few people use it regularly to enhance their lives. Part of the reason for this is that it seems too easy. I have met countless people who used a pendulum once or twice and then put it away to experiment with things that appeared more exciting. Many years ago, I met a man who had used a pendulum to help him decide on a suitable career. Although he had followed the pendulum’s advice, and was happy with his choice of career, he had never used it again. When I asked him why, he muttered that the pendulum seemed too simple, and he would probably have chosen the same field anyway.
Of course, even though a pendulum is simple to use, it still takes practice to become good at it. You can buy pendulums at any new age store, but any weight suspended on cord or chain will act as an impromptu pendulum. Choose something that weighs at least three ounces and attach it to four to six inches of cord.
Hold the cord between the thumb and first finger of your right hand, if you are right-handed. (Use your left, if you are left-handed. ) Rest your elbow on a table and allow the pendulum to swing freely an inch or so above the surface of the table. Stop the movement of the weight with your free hand. Then ask the pendulum to move in a direction that means “yes.” The pendulum may start moving immediately, or it might take a while to indicate a positive response. When it starts, it will either move from side to side, backwards and forwards, or rotate in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

Yes or No
Once the pendulum has indicated “yes,” stop it again, and then ask it to indicate “no.” Follow this by asking for “I don’t know” and “I don’t want to answer” responses.
Now you can ask the pendulum questions that can be answered with these four movements. Start by asking the pendulum questions that you already know the answers to. You might ask it if you are male. Ask if you live at your current address.
After checking your pendulum in this way, you can proceed to ask questions that you do not know the answers to. Start by asking questions that you can check later on. The correct answers that your pendulum provides will give you confidence as you continue to experiment.
There is no limit to the types of questions you can ask once you become proficient with the pendulum

It’s hard to believe something as simple as a weight on a string can work magic. A pendulum is an effective tool, yet small enough to carry around and use anytime to plumb the depths of your subconsciousand beyond.

In Pendulum Magic for Beginners, Richard Webster shows you how to use a pendulum for magic, self-improvement, and psychic development. You’ll also learn about Huna, the little-known methods practiced by the Hawaiian Kahunas to create magic and miracles.

Making Your Own Runes another Take

Filed under: Divination, Divination — Loki @ 9:54 am

I recently posted an article on making rune stones. I thought I would share how I made my Runes.

I have studied and rad runes for years. My first set of runes were stones that I gathered myself. I picked equal sized stones and washed them. I then painted the runes on them with red paint. I my have used red sharpie but I can’t remember right now. I know that the runes were red and they were on the rocks.

Rune stones are a 20th century phenomenon. The Runes as we know them today were introduced by Ralph Blum. His runes were on stones. He also introduced us to the 25th rune or the blank rune. He called this rune the Odin rune. This rune was not apart of the original elder futhark. Traditional the elder futhark has 24 runes in 3 series of aetts (pronounced Eights).

The runes were originally carved on sticks called staves. These staves were tossed and read by the rune and the placement they fell in. When working magic usually the runes were written in the blood of the caster.

The more I worked with rune stones the more I realized that I wanted a set of wooden runes. I am not a very crafty fellow so I wanted them to be traditional, functional and easy to make. I decided that staves would not work for me but wooden disks would. I went down to the local lumber store and bought myself a hardwood dowl rod around an inch wide. I cut myself 24 equal disks around 1/4 inch thick (I know people that use antler and that works well).

I took a red paint pen and painted the runes on each disk. Wood burning would work. I used red paint to represent blood since I refused to take enough of my own blood for 24 runes. I don’t like to take my blood. I figure loosing an arm is enough sacrifice to any God or Goddess and that I would keep my blood, thank you very much.

After finishing painting the runes I oiled them You can use something like mink oil or linseed oil. If you use linseed oil use boiled linseed because if it is not boiled it will take several weeks to dry.

That was it. I had a functional set of runes based in tradition that were easy to make. I then cleansed, blessed and attuned them in a way that worked for me.

I found my own path to reading runes that incorporates traditional ways along with a few new ways to make them work for me in a modern world.

WATER SCRYING

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 2:10 pm

WATER SCRYING

This technique is a very ancient one, and common among Shamanistic
Traditions. Divination is the ability to see what patterns are forming
towards manifestation. What you “see” is actually what is
likely to occur if nothing changes the pattern being “woven”. Here is one
technique which is taught:

Pour some bottled water into a cereal bowl.

Mix either a blue or a green food color into the water, so that the
liquid is dark enough to hide the bottom of the bowl. At this point you have
a reflective surface. Place two candles as your source of light, so that the
light does not reflect upon the liquid (off a foot or two, in front of you
should do it).

Next is a series of hand passes over the liquid, slowly and
deliberately. Magically speaking, the right hand is of an electrical
nature/active charge, and the left hand is of a magnetic/receptive charge.
Right handed pass will strengthen the image and left handed passes will
attract the image to form.

Begin by making left handed passes over the bowl, in a clockwise
circle, just a few inches above the water (palms open and facing down).

Stop, and gaze into the dark liquid, not At the liquid, but INTO the
liquid.

You will need to repeat these passes as you go, from time to time.

Alternate between the left hand and the right hand. This requires
patience, and time. Use your intuition as you sit before the bowl.

Make sure the area is quiet and there are no distractions.

Drinking some Rosemary tea, prior to Divination, can aid in the work.
There are several herbs which aid the Psychic Mind, this is just one of them
(careful though, Rosemary can be toxic in large quantities).

Scrying Using the Black Mirror

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 6:56 am

eeing Into Darkness - Scrying Using the Black Mirror

by Katlyn Breene

The following excerpt comes from a book-length work on scrying and

magick mirrors.

The black scrying mirror, or magick mirror, is a powerful psychic tool.

It can bring the user hidden knowledge and clairvoyant ability and can

act as a portal to other planes of existence. History shows its use in

many of the traditional mystery schools and oracular temples. Today the

serious student of magickal arts can rediscover the ancient rites of the

magick mirror, for these techniques are again coming to light.

Scrying can be defined as the mantic art of gazing into or upon a

crystal or dark mirror, allowing the physical eyes to relax, thus

letting the inner psychic eyes begin to open and receive desired visions

or information. The use of the black mirror is one of the best methods

of achieving the state of mind required for entering trance and for

scrying work. It not only acts as a focal point for visualization but

can become a doorway into the astral plane. It allows communication with

higher realms and the subconscious and access to Akashic records. The

traditional crystal ball is also a wonderful tool, but it is more

difficult to scry with and is extremely expensive. The mirror is a more

efficient way to begin to learn to scry and journey in other realms.

However, all techniques in this article may be used with a crystal ball

as well as the black scrying mirror.

Consider the reality of the Akashic records, in which all ideas,

actions, influences and vibrations are stored. The practiced scryer has

the ability to “read” these records and focus on this vast source of

timeless knowledge with the aid of the mirror and a strongly directed

imagination. Guides from the world of spirit often lead the scryer in

astral travel and mental journeying through the black mirror or crystal

sphere. Scrying develops one’s clairvoyant abilities and is especially

helpful in strengthening the third eye.

The preparation and construction of the mirror is extremely important.

The black scrying mirror must be created with the highest magickal

standards and traditions. At the full moon, specially cut glass disks

are cleansed and magnetized. They are then anointed with a powerful

herbal fluid condenser to attract and hold energy, vital force and any

charge given them. A tincture of gold and moonstone is then applied to

the surface, and they are ritually blessed under the light of the full

moon. They remain for a night and a day within a circle of protection.

The black coating is then applied to seal in the energy, and a felt

backing is put on to protect the mirror and absorb later applications of

fluid condenser. The mirror stand is carved rosewood, ebony or teak.

Ways in which the black mirror can be used

To contact spirit guides

To access knowledge

For healing and self improvement

As a magickal transmitter and receiver

For divining the past, present and future

As a portal to the astral plane

For shamanic journeying

For ritual invocation and evocation

To improve visualization skills

Preparing to work with the black scrying mirror

Always keep the surface very clean using alcohol and a soft cloth.

Never use it for anything but its intended magickal purpose.

Do not let others look into its surface, except in ritual context. Keep

it stored in a silk bag when not in use.

Frequently recharge the mirror with vital force and fluid condenser, as

explained following.

Practice the visual exercises described following until mastered.

Keep the working area clean and free from any disturbance.

Generally, scry using the mirror at night, preferably during the full or

new moon, depending on the operation. The mirror can be used at any

time, but tends to work better at these points.

When indoors, light two votive candles, one on each side of the mirror.

Use white or colored candles appropriate to the work: blue for healing,

purple for psychic work, orange for communication, and so on. (For more

suggestions on candle colors, see any standard table of correspondences,

for example in Scott Cunningham’s books or The Spiral Dance).

Burn a lunar or psychic blend incense before working with the mirror.

Place the mirror on a wooden table or altar with a clean cloth beneath

it and be seated on a wooden chair in front of it, or if you prefer,

assume a comfortable asana on the floor with the mirror before you.

Extinguish all light sources except the candles and/or moonlight.

Allow nothing to reflect in the mirror’s surface. It should appear as a

dark tunnel or window.

Before starting, always create a sacred space to work in. Cast a circle

of protection or visualize the area surrounded by white light and

protection from false or misleading influences - call your guides and

guardians to protect the working.

Keep a journal to record your experiences.

The rite of scrying

First, clearly decide what you seek or are trying to accomplish in the

working and prepare appropriately. Then prepare the work area carefully

as suggested previously.

Once you are ready, close your eyes and begin to relax; feel every part

of your body releasing, relieved of all tension. Visualize your circle

of protection and know you are safe and in control of all that happens

within it. Begin to breath rhythmically and fully; try a count of four

in, hold four, release four, four in, hold four, release four and so on.

Feel yourself entering a light trance surrounded by sacred space,

removed from time and the material world. Silently call your guides or

guardians of the work, invoking the Goddess or calling angelic

presences, spirit guides, watchtowers, astral guardians or whatever you

prefer. Reaffirm your desire and the purpose of the work.

Now open your physical eyes and gaze into the mirror; remain relaxed and

do not hesitate to blink when necessary. Relax the focus of your eyes

but remain alert. After a while, the surface of the mirror will begin to

change and fade; a dark mist will appear..

Your inner eyes will now open, and the journey into the mirror begins.

Remember that the inner eye sees inside the mind, through the magickal

imagination. Most people when scrying do not see the images appear with

the physical eyes on the mirror’s surface but see within the mirror and

in the mind’s eye. The mirror acts as a focal point, a gateway within.

When you have completed your journey or work you set out to do, begin

the return to your body and ordinary senses. Breath fully and deeply,

and remain still until you feel you have completely returned. Now close

your eyes and remember all you saw and felt during the scrying or

journey. Review your entire experience mentally.

Write it all down immediately in a journal kept for this purpose.

To begin to see

This is a very important exercise to master if you are new to scrying or

are having trouble receiving images. It will aid your “visual

imagination, ” which allows your psychic and physical eyes to see clearly

together. It gives clairvoyant strength.

Sit before your mirror and begin to imagine objects on its surface, one

after another. You should try to see these images clearly in the mirror

with your eyes open, just as if they were there in reality. Try simple

shapes or colors first. Hold onto the image of each shape, object or

color one minute before dissolving it and going on to the next. For

example, use a red triangle, a yellow square, a blue circle and silver

crescent; see them appear in the mirror using your firm imagination. For

best results, do this exercise every day for 15 minutes until it is

mastered.

This exercise is well worth the effort; it gives magickal discipline and

strengthens the inner eye so visions can come with clarity and ease.

Charging the mirror with light

To charge and empower the mirror with light force is a simple but

powerful process. It should be done frequently, especially just before

using the mirror, so as to ensure you see correct visions, connect with

positive energy and do not experience interference.

First, you must imagine that white light is collecting inside your body,

being channeled down from the crown chakra. The body becomes a vessel

filled with light. Remember to breathe fully, deeply and rhythmically.

Now stand in front of the mirror and direct the palms of your hands

toward one another. Imagine that the internal light is now moving into

your hands, forming a ball of condensed white light between them. See

and feel this clearly in your imagination. When ready, begin to project

this ball of light into the surface of the mirror, purifying and

enlivening the mirror, filling it with magickal force. See the light

“soak” into the mirror. This process needs to be repeated until the

mirror feels “full.”

This process can also be used to give a special or programmed charge to

the mirror. Follow the steps preceding and create the ball of light

between your hands, then mentally project your desire into the light

before projecting the light into the mirror. This technique can be used

for healing works and self-improvement. You can also charge the light

with a specific color or vibration - whatever can be felt or imagined

can be put into the mirror to aid the magickal energy. The empowering

exercise can be used for other magickal operations as well, such as

charging other magickal tools and the giving of healing light to another

person. All it takes is a strong desire and powerful imagination.

Locking the charge into the mirror is accomplished by willpower. When

the light has been absorbed into the mirror, state in your mind and with

all the faith you can muster that the charge will remain as long as you

require it. To release or remove a special charge, simply reverse the

procedure, pulling the light out of the mirror into the space between

your hands. Then disperse the energy into the atmosphere through the

imagination. Do not draw it back into the body - see it return to the

universe.

Creation and use of the fluid condenser

A fluid condenser is an infusion of herbs with tinctures, essences and

gold added. It serves to hold the mirror’s magickal charge and attract

elemental force. The condenser can be used not only on mirrors but also

on all other ritual tools you want to charge for ceremonial use. The use

of certain herbs, stones and metals in small quantities attracts etheric

energy of a like kind. These fluids can be made individually to

represent each of the elements or to enhance a particular work. I

recommend making a universal fluid condenser that will work for all

purposes, having all elements represented along with tincture of gold,

representing solar and God energy, and essence of moonstone,

representing lunar and Goddess energy.

The fluid is applied to recharge the mirror and to draw magickal symbols

upon it for use in ritual. When the mirror is not in use, it is wise to

anoint its surface with the fluid before putting it away. The fluid can

be cleaned off with alcohol or distilled water later.

To make the fluid, you must first gather the herbs you need. They can be

fresh or dried, but the more life force they contain, the better. The

list of herbs following includes some suggestions, but you need not use

all the herbs to make a good condenser. Use the ones you can find of

good quality.

Once gathered, the herbs are placed in a pot with distilled water or

rainwater. There should be about an ounce of each herb and enough water

in the pot to cover the contents completely. Bring this mixture to a

boil, and then turn down the flame and let it simmer for an hour with

the pot lid on. When this is done, let the mixture cool and strain it

through a muslin cloth. Put the liquid back into the pot and simmer

without the lid until only a quarter of the original amount is left.

When this is cool, add the gold tincture, about 13 drops to each pint of

liquid. Then add the essence of moonstone. If gold tincture and essence

of moonstone are not available, gold chloride or gold salts can be used

and whole moonstones and crystals added to the mixture as a vibrational

additive. Gold tincture can also be made at home with fairly good results.

To make gold tincture, take a pure piece of gold and holding it with a

pair of pliers heat it over a flame until red hot. The red-hot gold is

then dunked into a container of about half a quart of distilled water or

rainwater. The heat and rapid cooling causes gold molecules to remain in

the liquid. This process should be repeated nine times in the same

water. Be careful of the rising steam, and try not to get the hot pliers

into the water!

When you have combined all the fluid condenser ingredients together in a

sterilized glass container, then add an equal amount of wood or

isopropyl alcohol to act as a preservative. Store the condenser in an

air-tight glass container in a dark place, and it will last for years.

For a very powerful and personalized condenser, add a few drops of your

own blood to the mixture. Quartz crystals can be left in the fluid while

it is stored to keep it clear.

Herbs for the fluid condenser

For the water element: elder flowers, water lily, orris root, white

rose, willow, cucumber seeds, jasmine

For the fire element: red poppy, cinnamon bark, bay leaves, orange peel,

rosemary, marigold, galangal, damiana, tobacco, nutmeg

For the earth element: oak, ivy, cypress, mugwort, vervain, patchouli

herb, wheat, primrose

For the air element: mistletoe, acacia, clover, pine, sage, lavender,

verbena

For spirit: gold, blood, crystal

For healing: juniper, thyme, mandrake, tansy, elder, coriander,

lavender, life-everlasting, sage, cypress

For universal fluid condenser: chamomile, dittany of Crete, ivy, oak

leaves, bay leaves, almonds, cypress, clover, grape leaves, rose petals,

mugwort, jasmine, vervain, mandrake root

Incense for psychic work

The best incense to use when working with the mirror or any scrying

device is lunar or psychic in nature, representing the sphere of Yesod.

These types of blends may be purchased or created by yourself and must

be burned on self-igniting charcoal disks. Here are some excellent

recipes for fine-quality magickal incense to be used for the rites of

scrying.

Lunar blend incense:

A base of white sandalwood powder

Orris root and myrrh in equal parts

Oil of jasmine and jasmine flowers

Oil of lotus and synthetic ambergris

A small pinch of refined camphor

Poppy and cucumber seeds

Blend together sandalwood, myrrh, and orris root, and crush them

together into a powder. True refined camphor is hard to come by, but if

you should have some available, add a pinch to the powdered base. Also

add at this time the poppy and/or dried cucumber seeds. Put this mixture

aside in an air-tight jar.

Next, blend the jasmine, ambergris and lotus oils together in equal

parts. Coat the dried jasmine flowers with the blended oil and set them

aside in an air-tight jar. Let these sit until the next full moon. On

the evening of the full moon, mix together (in a silver or crystal bowl

if possible) the oil-soaked flowers and the powder base with your hands,

meditating as you mix on the beauty and wisdom of Mother Moon. Ask her

to bless this incense with Her magick.

Scrying incense (psychic blend):

A base of mastic gum, myrrh, galangal powder and frankincense

Mugwort and wormwood herbs

Rose petals and lavender buds

Green cardamom pods and star anise

Bay leaves

Oils of mimosa and lotus, and dark musk

Blend together mastic, myrrh, galangal and frankincense in equal parts

and grind to a powder base. Add a few cardamom and star anise seeds to

the base and put aside in an air-tight jar. Now mix equal parts of

ground mugwort, wormwood and bay, about half the amount used in the

powder base. Coat this mixture with dark musk oil, and put it aside in a

sealed jar. Mix the lavender and rose petals together, coat them with

mimosa and lotus oil and put them aside in a sealed jar. Let the

ingredients stand for nine days during the waxing of the moon.

Then blend all ingredients together by hand. As you mix, meditate upon

your spirit guide and developing your psychic abilities. Know that when

the incense is burned, your inner eyes will open and a link will be

formed between you and world of spirit. (It is best to remove anise and

cardamom seeds from the incense before burning; their scent will have

been absorbed by the incense base.)

Black Bowl Scying

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 7:29 am

Black Bowls

Simple tools like the black bowl or cauldron are very effective for
scrying. Simply pour water in a black bowl or cauldron and scry the
surface of the water.

Moon Phase: 3rd quarter

Items needed:
Dried herbs — rose petals, sea salt, jasmine, and hyssop.
A large clear bottle or jar.

In a separate bowl, mix together the herbs. Add one part herb
mixture to four parts water. Stir in 3 teaspoons of sea salt. Pour
mixture into the jar, cover, and place in a sunny spot. Leave
undisturbed until the last night of the 4th quarter of the waning
moon so both moon and sun energy will blend with herbs and water.
Watch it throughout its distillation. If the water level drops, you
can add another one-half to three-quarters cup of water. Strain
herbs and store water in a lidded container until use. The water
will look like tea.

Cautionary Measures for Ouija

Cautionary Measures for Ouija

Be extra careful on “weather days” - Which means dark and stormy days, and eclipses (moon or sun). Because the barier btween the worlds is supposedly thinner during those times.

When a entity starts speaking, you should be silenced. It is VERY offensive to them otherwise.

Always ask them if you can ask questions before you do… It’s common courtesy.

Never speak words you do not understand… you may think that’s trivial, but it could mean the difference between many things.

NEVER get on a board looking for a fight with a being, you just might get it.

The overly religious should not be near a board. Reason being that if you think your all high and mighty, and a “prayer” that you created is somehow going to protect you, your WRONG.

Excersize intelligence, never try to degrade beings in ANY way

How To Remember Dreams

Filed under: Divination, Misc. — Loki @ 2:33 pm

How To Remember Dreams
written by John Suler Phd.

Every dream has many layers of meaning. Every object, person, and
situation in a dream may have many meanings. So take your time in trying
to understand it. Think of your dream as something to EXPLORE. You have
to look at it from different angles, walk around in it for awhile, work
with it - and then its many meanings will begin to reveal themselves.

Try not to give into the pressure to “interpret” a dream. If you put
yourself or others on the spot to “tell me what it means” then you are
taking the wrong attitude toward working with the dream. It’s not a game
of Jeopardy or a multiple choice test where there’s a right or wrong
answer. Working with a dream is more like playing with it - the kind of
play that involves creativity, imagination, and a willingness to
experiment. It also requires patience!

How to Remember Dreams

Invite, Don’t Hunt

Your dreams can be elusive. Try NOT to think of a dream as something to
be hunted, captured, or controlled. If you do, it will be like trying to
catch your own shadow. The faster you run, the faster it moves away from
you. INVITE dreams to come to you, rather than pursuing them. Try to
think of them as a friend or an ally who is willing to teach you
something if you allow and encourage them to do so. Try to cultivate
this attitude of “inviting” and “welcoming” your dreams.

Plant a Seed

Before going to sleep, tell yourself that you are going to dream. Keep a
positive, inviting attitude. Think about and write down (1) the
important issues that are on your mind for that day, and, (2) the kinds
of things you would like to dream about. Read over what you wrote. Keep
that idea in the back of your mind as you fall asleep. Don’t analyze or
think too deeply about it, just hold it lightly in your mind.

Reflect Upon the Dream

When you wake up from a dream (in the middle of the night or in the
morning), lie still for a moment and turn your mind inward toward the
memory of the dream. Invite the various pieces of the dream to come back
to you. Be patient. It may take time for the different parts of the
dream to surface and come together. Even if only fragments of the dream
return to your mind, that’s OK. Don’t strain in trying to remember. Let
your mind be light and easy. Allow the dream pieces to surface on their
own. Gently repeating the dream over and over in your mind may allow new
pieces to surface.

Write Everything Down in “Rough Notes”

After you’ve reflected on the dream and seem to recall as much of it as
you can, write down everything you remember! Don’t trust your memory.
You sometimes may think “Oh, I’ll definitely remember THIS dream! It was
a doozy!” But there’s a very good chance that you won’t. Dreams are
elusive! Have paper and a pencil ready by your bedside. Maybe even keep
a flashlight next to your bed too (so the light won’t disturb others).
Using a tape-recorder is another possibility. Whatever method you
choose, record the following types of information:

* anything you can remember about the dream itself, even if only fragments
* small details in the dream, even if they seem insignificant
* the feelings or sensations you experienced during the dream
* events from your life that come to mind when you think about the dream
(even if you’re not sure how those events are related to the dream)
* the thoughts that were on your mind when you were falling asleep
* any other thoughts, feelings, memories, or sensations that arise as
you are reflecting on the dream.

If you can only remember fragments of a dream, write those down without
worrying about how to put them in order. In general, don’t worry too
much about the grammar, spelling, or logical flow of what you write in
these “rough notes.” These notes in fact may be a kind of “free
association. ”

Your Dream Journal

Keeping an ongoing dream journal can be a good way to stimulate your
recall of your dreams. The more attention you pay to your dreams, the
more your dream life will “open up” to you. Whereas the rough notes are
your immediate “off the cuff” recall and reactions to your dreams, the
journal can be a place for more detailed, in-depth, systematic thinking
and exploring. Use the rough notes as fuel or as a springboard for ideas
that you investigate in the journal. You may also use the journal to try
out the various techniques for working with a dream.

Daytime Dreams

Sometimes the memory of a dream may spontaneously pop into your mind
during the day. Try to write it down as soon as possible. Also write
down what you were thinking about, where you were, and what you were
doing when the dream came to you. All of this information might be clues
to the dream’s meaning.

If you find yourself daydreaming or fantasizing during the day, treat
them as if they were dreams. Write down what you were thinking about, as
well as where you were, what was happening to you, and what thoughts,
feelings, or events might have triggered the fantasy. Daydreams in many
ways are similar to dreams. Exploring them could enhance your
understanding of your nocturnal dreams. Exploring them could help open
up your dream life.

Be Patient and Optimistic

You will go through periods when you just can’t remember dreams, or only
recall small fragments. That’s OK! Be patient. Try to remain optimistic
and inviting. Don’t dwell on frustration or “failure.” In your rough
notes and journal, describe any your thoughts, feelings, and sensations
you do have upon awakening in the morning. What things *do* you remember
about your sleep? Write about your thoughts and feelings about not being
able to recall dreams. Explore those thoughts and feelings with
curiosity and acceptance.

Rune Magicks by Balder

Filed under: Divination — Indigo Moonstar @ 6:35 pm
Rune Magicks by Balder

There are many ways to use Runes, either by themselves or with other techniques that can enhance your work. One such way is to focus on a single Rune itself and call upon it to help effect the change required or strengthen the energy. Another way is to use several runes in a line (much like a typical casting) to shape the energy around or in the work you are doing. Yet another is to combine runes into a single shape. These are known as binding Runes. The last is to write out a word or group of words, spelled in the rune staves, and either carved, painted, or written down on parchment.

Below I’ve listed some examples of Rune Magick in typical spell work. The use of Runes will start to come naturally to you once you have spent time on them. Like beginning any thing new, start with simple things. Don’t get too complex until you’re understanding of the Runa is clear. There are, in the sagas, tales of the inexperienced Runester carving Runes for a well intended purpose and winding up with disastrous results.

I recommend focusing on each Rune, one at a time. Use them in simple divination and meditate on each staves shape. Note the flow, their relationship, the “tone” that each one has. There are both the elements of sheer strength and hidden subtleties to look for. Like the rushing stream, there is both the power of the movement and the delicacy of life hidden beneath. Or conversely, the seemingly gentle appearance and the powerful current below.

Candle Magick
Prepare your altar or space, set the lights dim or use lighting by candles only. Play soft music in the background, I recommend instrumental or non-lingual vocals. Select the type of candle you wish to use, depending on its purpose. Carve on the candle a binding rune upon it, or you can instead carve the purpose of the candle in rune staves (E.g. Health).

Set the candle down for a moment and concentrate on your intent. Gather your energy, pick up the candle, and charge it. The runes will help shape the energy you send it into its pattern. Set the candle down and meditate on it for a moment, then light it.

The runes will partially insure the energy you sent into is shaped to its pattern. This focuses the energy into a very tightly knit band that is very difficult to disturb. Thus, the work you’ve just performed is less inclined to break down due to forces of entropy.

Charging Oils
How you prepare your oils and what type to use is strictly up to you. Some extract the oil from their own garden of herbs and plants. While I admire such dedication, many of us rarely have the time or resources to dedicate to such purity. One must bear in mind though, that what one puts in to their efforts will be returned.

I usually purchase my oils from a source that knows the difference between good oils and cheap ones. To those just starting I might point out that you should stay clear from synthetic based Essentials and stick to the natural Essential oils. In my industry there’s also a known acronym “GIGO”, Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Set about your workspace the Runes you wish to invoke. I frequently use another set of Rune stones that I use for spell work. Blend your oil using the base of your choice, if its meant to be worn. Otherwise, combine your oils carefully. After pouring the oil into its vial, meditate on the Runes you’ve selected and the energy you wish to send. Charge the oil, hold it, and set it down carefully. At this point I like to let the oil set overnight, with the Runes surrounding it. The cone formed by the Runes surrounding the vial help protect it and lets it “mature” to its fullest potential.

Optional: If you wish to go a step further, you can write your spell to which you are preparing your oils in Runes, usually on parchment. The spell can be prose, verse, a single word, or a binding rune. Anoint the parchment with a touch of the oil. Set the parchment in your cauldron and light the paper. This acts as the initialization of the oil, activating it.

Sealing Your Home
Its good to protect your home every so often. Many of us absorb a lot from our environment and as such we should do as much as we can to insure our comfort and protection. Sealing one’s home is really setting up filters on all points of entry. These filter allow the positive energy to flow in while preventing the negative from gaining entry. In some cases you may also wish to limit what you allow out. No need letting the neighbors get hit with whatever you’re sending…

What you use in this as a medium is completely up to you. I use incense ash, others use oils. For the doors, you can use a cord knot or a mounted plate with your Runes carved on them. This technique will use the ashes, and can be combined with the more traditional Smudging.

In candle light, with soft music, draw your circle and create your sacred space. Start with the shielding and protection of your space. Light your incense. The kind you use is strictly up to you. Keep in mind, however, that you are doing a protection spell. If you wish to add other elements to that, such as cleansing, feel free. Again, sometimes it is better to keep it simple, and there for minimize the chance of confusing the spell.

As the incense burns, expand the walls of your circle slightly. Meditate on the feeling of being within that space while the incense burns. When the incense has stopped burning, and you have adequate ashes, you can let your circle down. Go with the burner and mark each door and window frame with your Runes. Elhaz and Thuriwaz are the most “protection” or “defence” attributed. “Uruz” can also be invoked, albeit cautiously so, and “Othila” can be as well.

Enchanting an Item
The purpose of carving Runes on specific objects is to essentially bless and dedicate them to their specific tasks. The Runes are either that of invocation to make their attributes purer, stronger, and more reliable. Enchanting ones drinking horn or sword was an extremely common practice. Drinking horns were carved to enchant the drink it held, or to detect
poison. Usually sounding horns were carved to sound true and over long distances.

For Swords, the enchanting normally called upon its strength, sureness of stroke, sharpness, etc.. Blades were also named, for naming a thing gave it its identity and personality. To this end we have essentially created something which is partially “aware” in the astral realm. Name usually corresponded with its function or desired result. “Helm Splitter”, “Ever Bright” , etc.. In the case of my ceremonial sword, I have named it “Veil Cleaver” for its ability to define and cut through the “veils” of reality and the planes on which we work.

Start with candle light, incense, and low playing music. Music for this type of work may be a Richard Wagner piece.. (that’s pronounced Rikhard Vaagner) With all elements and tools within your reach, create your Sacred Space. Open a path to your patron deity and ask for their guidance. Offer up the item and call upon those you wish to help enchant it. Each deity has their own particularities and qualities, remember the path you choose and why you are dedicating this.

On smudge the item with the incense. This should be prepared for cleansing the item and help bias it with the properties you will later instill (i.e. Astral, Truth, Defense, Healing). Hold the object close and let your energy wash it. Fill it with the energy you wish it to have. Like the candle or the oils, what we need to possess qualities we must first place therein.

After charging the item, meditate on it. Visualize your use of it. Walk though its properties and how it helps you. Pick it up again and continue to reflect on these visions, the feelings. We are programming it, making it our own, and fashioning its purpose. Once done, paint or carve the Runes you have already designed. Unless your instinct is well defined, I strongly recommend thinking Very carefully before marking any object irrevocably. Not only physical marks, but the astral marks it will bear from the energy you are etching upon it.

Upon finishing the Runes, seal it with an oil or the drop of wax. This in effect states you are clearly finished with that phase of the rite, putting the period to the binding of the Rune. Sit a while, meditate, clear your mind and feel the object. Sense it in the now, and beyond. Open your channels and see how it moves energy. After satisfactory calm and meditation, lay the object down, clean your circle, and close. Let the object “cool” overnight.

Other Tips
As I stated previously, all the efforts you put into something is what you can expect back. IF you feel comfortable, you can start more complex rituals and Rune Magicks by tying them in with other elements such as Moon phases, Astrology, Crystals and stones, group circle rituals, etc…

Automatic writing - using your computer

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 10:01 am

Automatic writing - using your computer

Doodling is a form of automatic writing as it is generally not
consciously focused writing. Many people doodle spirals which are
associated with Sacred Geometry.

We attempt automatic writing for several reasons. First - to get
information about our personal life. Second - to confirm something
from some who exists on the other side or has deceased.

The answers can be surprising … but always be cautious as with any
tool of divination chosen - such as the ouija board.

If you have emotional problems - you may not like the messages that
come through. Your consciousess - being in lower frequency due to
emotional problems will attract a lower frequency entity.

If you like drama - and consider your life to be in drama - don’t
channel.

When attempting automatic writing you may use a writing implement,
computer, or any other means of communicating through the written
word. Many people prefer the computer as they can type quickly
without filtering the information coming through. When reread - even
a typo can mean something.

To divert the focus of the writer - shifting from left brain logical
thinking - to right brain intuitive thinking - take a pencil in
hand, place it against a piece of paper as if about to write
something. Then turn your attention to something else, such as
watching television, reading a book, or talking with someone. For
many people, their hand will write coherent material.

Much of this goes to ‘control’ and have much you are willing to give
to a non-physical entity.

The amount of time spent on automatic writing can vary with the
person and the session.

Words, sentences or whole paragraphs may appear. Often, the writing
is illegible - the text appearing jumbled - without proper grammar
or punctuation - mostly run-on sentences.

Messages can be written in a language - or hand writing style - not
recognized by the writer and signed by someone unknown.

A picture or symbol may be written.

Some automatic writers know who is giving the messages while others
do not. If the energies feel comfortable to you then you will soon
learn who the entity is and why he/she is writing with you.

If you feel the least bit uncomfortable with the entity or the
information received STOP!

Let all information flow! Do not stop to think about - or process -
what you are writing / typing.

If you feel that more than one entity is trying to write through
you - ask them to take their time and you will write with them one
at a time. Always get a name.

Some of the best works of literature have come through channeled
writing.

Zoroaster - my Spirit Guide has written many of the columns in
Crystalinks.

When I do readings with clients, I usually sit with a pen and pad
and often find myself writing names or doodling images or symbols.

The best way to know if the information received is valid is to
check the validity of what is given.

If you feel uncomfortable stop! If automatic writing is a good tool
for you - you will know right (write) away!

Getting Started
Get into a comfortable position. Today you will be seated at your
computer.

Be sure you are free of distractions.

If you are not alone—tell others that you have some personal
correspondence to take care of!

If you are tired –this could actually work better for you.

Now clear your mind of chatter. Feel the muscles in your body–neck–
arms–shoulders– especially your face–totally relaxed . . .

You are going to use your computer to talk to your guide.

Know that whatever the answer is to your questions will be written
by the spirit.

Do not allow time for your mind to listen to this information. Just
type. You may even want to focus your eyes on something near the
computer which keeps the left brain busy while it right brain does
the channeling.

It may seem like your own thoughts at first but that is OK. It will
get easier and quicker especially if you are on a computer.

This takes practice.

You are ready to begin

Gently place your finger on the keyboard. You are relaxed and not
concerned about what you will type.

Type today’s date at the top of your page.

Mentally call one of your guides and tell him / her you want to
communicate with the computer. Tell them you can only work with one
guide at a time. You may select the guide - or perhaps it is their
choice. Not all guides use automatic writing to communicate.

On the first day you must get to know who your guide is.

Type, “Hello. What is your name?”

Follow with questions about the spirit guide and his relationship
with you.

I would suggest you start with simple questions that can be answered
with a ‘yes or no’ answer.

Don’t stop to think. Just allow your fingers to type the answer.

This is a time to get to know your guide and why he / she is working
with you at this time.

After a few minutes you will find yourself typing more quickly.
There may be mistakes in punctuation - no space between words - poor
grammar - unknown words - whatever. This is not important! You can
fix the typos later.

Just keep typing questions and answers.

Do not write too much on the first day. Just start slowly and feel
comfortable.

You can begin again whenever you like. There is no schedule
requirements. Each experience will make you more comfortable.

On the second day you can ask questions that are beyond ‘yes or no’
answers and get more details.

I would suggest you not ask about your love life until you are
comfortable with the spirit and this form of mediumship. This is
much easier when the questions are not about you.

On the second day - ask spirit (you should now have a name) - about
your spiritual work - relationship with the guide - other spiritual
questions.

On the third day - ask about global matters - earth changes -
changes in the Millennium - other.

On the fourth day - begin personal questions but remember you can
only ask a question once. Asking a question over and over again
until you type your desired answer - is wrong.

Ex. “Does - - - - love me?”

If the answer is No ! Then so be it!

Change question to - “Will I find a true love? Marry? Etc.”

This equates to finding a psychic reader who will tell you what you
want to hear not what is the truth. The more you use automatic
writing - the easier and faster it gets. Remember to save your
notes!

There is a poet in each of us. The emotional body expresses itself
through the art of poetry. Sometimes we write as we feel - thus
allowing our pain to come through and be released.

Egyptian Dream Scrying

Filed under: Divination — Loki @ 4:52 am

Egyptian Dream Scrying

Egyptian dream scrying may be traced back thousands of years. The
method used by the Egyptians was recorded in the Greek magical
papyri which were written between 200 B.C. to 500 A.D.

In preparing to use the Egyptian dream scrying method you must not
speak to anyone on the evening you plan to scry. You should remain
in silence after the setting of the sun.

Do not consume alcohol on that day or engage in sex. You must
refrain from consuming food for up to four hours before the scrying.

After having a warm bath you anoint your temples with olive oil. You
will need an oil lamp which must not be colored red or bear any
inscription.

Write on a short narrow strip of white linen with ink mixed with
myrrh the name of the dream God and the purpose for the dream
scrying. Twist the linen strip into a wick and insert into the oil
of the lamp.

Place the lamp on a table beside your bed. Using the ink draw the
image of the dream God upon your left palm.

You must decide which God or Goddess you wish to use. Thoth was well
used with the Egyptians.

Light your lamp. - Kneel before the lamp.

Concentrating on the image on your left hand recite the following
invocation :
Thoth I invoke, blessed power of dreams divine,
Angel of future fates, swift wings are thine,
Great source of oracles to human kind,
When stealing soft, and whispering to the mind,
Through sleep’s sweet silence and the gloom of night,
Thy power awake the sight,
To silent souls the will of heaven relates,
And silently reveals their future fates.
Concentrate on your question. Around your left hand wrap a piece of
black linen about four inches wide and about thirty inches long. The
black cloth is called the ‘black eye of Isis. - or the Magic of
Isis.

Blow out the flame of the lamp.

Clear your mind and go to sleep.

Have a tape recorder beside your bed so that when you awaken you may
record your dreams while still fresh in your mind.

You will find that the dream will come to you in a voice that is
clear and powerful rather than in dream images. Sometimes the
messages are in symbols - cryptic forms. Take your time in
deciphering the messages you have received. You may want to use a
dream dictionary.

How to Make Runes

Filed under: Crafts, Divination — Loki @ 7:58 am

I have read runes for years and I found making my own set as a valuable spiritual experience. This article gives great ingformation about the process.-L
How to Make Runes

The contents of this website are copyright 1997- 2001 by Corrine Kenner. All rights reserved.
Runes are remarkably easy to make, in part because their originators crafted runes with straight, simple lines and rudimentary tools. Almost anyone can re-create the primitive look of the ancient symbols. Here are some ideas that you can borrow and adapt to make your own set of runes.

Clay Runes
Divide a handful of clay or clay-like material into 25 equal sections, and roll each section into a ball. Flatten the runes slightly, either with your fingers or a flat, smooth surface like the bottom of a drinking glass. Use the dull edge of a knife blade or a clay-sculpting tool to carve a single runic letter into each piece of clay. Fire or bake the clay until it’s hard. If you like, you can then color in each runic inscription. Historically, it’s thought that rune makers used blood to color their runes; today, most people prefer paint or magic marker.

Wooden Runes
Find a tree branch that’s at least two feet long. The branch should be the same diameter along its whole length, so that each rune will be roughly the same size. Some say you should use a branch from a fruit-bearing tree, while its still in its blossom stage. You might want to find a fallen branch, or if your political sensitivities allow, you can cut one from a tree. (Cutting live branches can be a touchy issue among some rune experts. Some say it’s acceptable, especially if you ask permission or leave an offering of some sort. Personally, I think it’s okay to cut a branch or two from a tree in your yard, particularly if your motives are pure and the tree needs pruning anyway.)
You can peel the bark off the branch, or leave it on for a more rustic effect. Cut the branch into 25 even, half-inch sections. You might want to cut the sections slightly on the diagonal, so you’ll end up with a larger, more oval surface for each inscription.

Alternately, you can use 25 small, evenly sized twigs, or buy pre-cut, pre-sanded wood pieces from a hobby shop or a hardware store.

Use a knife or a wood-burning tool to carve a runic letter on each piece of wood.
When you’re finished carving your runes, you might want to coat them with a layer of varnish, shellac, or polyurethane.

Stone Runes
Go to a beach — some people say it should be an ocean or seaside beach, on Wednesday (Odin’s Day), as a storm approaches — and select 25 small stones that are roughly the same size and shape.
Paint a runic letter on each stone, then coat them with clear varnish so the letters don’t wear off. Spray-on finishes work especially well with stones, and can even give them an attractive, lustrous finish.

Shell Runes
As long as you’re at the beach, you might want to make yourself a set of delicate shell runes, too. Just find 25 small shells, and paint a runic letter on each one.

Leaf Runes
You can make a beautiful, temporary set of runes by painting runic symbols on leaves — especially colorful autumn leaves. When you’re finished, you can keep them with you for a time, like talismans, and then cast them to the wind for good luck.

Glass Runes
Visit your neighborhood craft shop or discount store and pick up an assortment of glass gems, the kind that are used in clear vases and bowls for floral arranging. Use a glass etching tool, paint, or a metallic ink marker to emboss each gem with a runic letter.

Paper Runes
Draw, write, or paint each rune on a small piece of card stock or heavy paper. If you like, you can embellish each rune with meaningful illustrations that symbolize that rune’s meaning and significance. You could even make collage-style rune cards, with pictures and images that relate to each symbol. You can decorate the back of each card, if you like, and laminate them so they’re easy to shuffle and impervious to everyday damage.

Tips and Hints

Here are some additional suggestions to keep in mind as you craft your runes:

· The most powerful, most meaningful runes are those that you handcraft for yourself or for someone you care about, with natural materials that you’ve collected.

· Don’t worry about making each rune “perfect.” But do try to make your runes roughly the same size, shape, and texture, so you can’t tell them apart by touch or feel.

· As you create each rune, say its name over and over to imbue it with the full force and power of that letter. Repeating the names will help you memorize the runes, master their pronunciation, and help you connect to the archetypal energies of each one.

· You may want to research color symbolism and design your runes accordingly, to imbue them with additional power and significance.

· You might want to sew a storage pouch for your runes. You might like choose a rustic fabric, like burlap or muslin. You might even be able to stitch together a piece of leather and a rawhide drawstring. You can paint, embroider, and embellish the pouch however you like.

· If you like, you can bless or consecrate your runes before you start using them. You can pray for guidance and enlightenment as you use the runes. You can envision them surrounded by pure white light, or you can bathe them in the light of a full moon. You can purify them by passing them through the smoke of burning herbs or incense, or you can sprinkle them with salt crystals.
