The Power of Faith

Filed under: Misc., National — Ethereal Light @ 6:28 pm

No matter your faith, beliefs or politics, this video is disturbing to watch and provides a good topic for discussion.

After viewing it, what are you thinking? Is it a fair comparison? Does it only represent the extremists? Or does is it a good reminder to always consider how our actions and faith effect others?

It makes a good attempt at showing how faith and beliefs are instilled at an early age in both cultures, but the comparisons of violence/opposition are not equivalent. Many would argue that in recent history that the Christian extremists have caused much less violence than Muslim extremists, but that may be different if it looked at a much larger section of history. However, most actions based on either religion, and many organized religions, are actually political moves/decisions by the leaders that use a populations faith to their own end.

FYI: In case you missed it, the lady sitting in two of the church scenes on the front row is Andrea Yates.

i am not a prophet….i am a sinner.but i belive in god.we all worship god in our own way but some have dis orted his word for their own meaning, which is sad but it is because they have lost their faith.only to have some evil to see this and give something else to belive in.when our faith starts to weaken this is when we are tested we must hold on to our faith .god is love and when we relize that we are all part of god .when our spiritual side which in all of us awakens then we will put aside our hate and fears and become closer to him.thank you and god bless and godspeed.

No heaven, No hell, No angels, No Devils
and no fate save for the ones we make for ourselves.

I fear no gods punishment, nor grant of golden roads or virgins in heaven
in all its imaginative glory, to be a good person. I am a good person and
treat my fellow human beings justly, fairly and kindly without fear or
    promise of reward.

If in truth I am such, Am I not closer to that would be percieved as godly
and good without temptation of gifts or fear?. Sadly by doctrins around the world I will
burn in lakes of fire and suffer torture under demons claws for all eternity
when the days end for me. No kindness so great, No giving compleatly of ones flesh
to save lives, or in pure effort and love try make this world a heaven for man and beast alike.

Nay I shall burn allways in the imagined hells., The heretic and heathen. the unclean and the murderous beside me in equal standing. All beacuse I choose to do what was right and good without jesus or allah or abraham in my pocket.

If in the end, Trully this is the way of the universe ( a petty petty thing it would be ) Then let blackness envelop me and wink out into the void.

But for now, Simply I choose not to believe a word of it.

    Thank god.

the problem with the world today is to much religion… if everyone would live a christian life not a religious one then we would be a lot better off

religion has long been the vehicle by which the masses are motivated / manipulated into conflict with one another. from the crusades to now, social institutions, whether they have been states or churches, have claimed “divine” instruction in the mandate for war.
i believe in god and i believe in jesus christ but there is not one mosque, synagogue, and there certainly is no church on this planet that has instruction from God. the existing institutions only pervert His message, or substitute man made agenda for It.
our country is controlled by fake christians and we are at war with fake muslims, both parties merely opportunists looking for a shortcut to salvation. peace is the only answer to war, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
on a final note, 9/11 was and is the greatest lie ever perpetrated on the american people and if not the entire world. i dont know who did it but the official story IS NOT TRUE and DOES NOT WITHSTAND ANY SERIOUS SCRUTINY.
God bless any who read this.

my opinion keep in mind I am an insane moron that hates poetry and religion:

The strangest thing about religions is that so many people completely buy into it. So many humans buy into various religions that non believers like me at some point question our thinking over religion simply because of the numbers. What blows me away is the loss of time or reality to religion. Those that believe in religion rob themselves of their abilities. 12 step programs say there is a more powerful entity -but their is not a more powerful entity. Religions pretty much all have rules given by some bigger better beyond human entity, well if there is something better than human it does not need us to do anything or it is insecure. God would not make inferior playthings he would be secure with himself and make equals to himself. Wouldn’t you make the rules simple and known to all, not 10 religions with over a million believers. I would have put my commands on the moon in neon and also show up every 20 years and say this is what you got to do if coming to heaven. Becoming one with the universe means after death we turn into dirt and cease to exist. We live within the present only nothing can get out of the present except death.

    enjoy yourself
    this is it
    life exists within a second

Our cultures indoctrinate us from an early age. Born into Catholicism, I was not given any options. Mass service 6 times per week. Quite a trial for a kid with ADD.
Some may react to this film with anger, rejection or even hate for those who participate in either extreme or benign organized religion. Yet, if the end we are moving towards is a unified love, then the “war” will be won with love as the weapon of its truest warriors.
